Who's behind it

Started by two friends who kept helping family with tech

Jesse and Kaylin founded TechPals in January 2024, inspired by years of helping parents and grandparents with confusing settings, unclear emails and online scams. TechPals is based in New York City, and its experts work from across the US.

Before you buy

Eight things worth knowing first

What we found reading TechPals' pages, FAQs and terms of service.

01

Help comes by email

There's no live chat. Phone and video help are being tested but aren't open to the public yet.

02

Expect hours, not minutes

"24/7" means you can write at any time. TechPals says replies usually arrive within a few hours.

03

Not always the same expert

Whoever answers reads your earlier messages first, but TechPals can't promise the same person each time.

04

In person in two cities only

Face-to-face help is for members in New York City and Miami. Everyone else gets help by email.

05

It renews until you cancel

The monthly plan keeps billing until you cancel. You can cancel anytime, but the terms don't describe refunds.

06

Guidance, not repairs

The terms say the service doesn't cover parts or labor for replacing hardware.

07

Remote access is in the terms

The terms let TechPals connect to your device remotely while helping you. Only allow remote access when you've asked TechPals for help yourself.

08

Check gift prices at checkout

The gift guide lists the Thermacup mug at $75, but its product page charges $79.95.
